Mr. Peter Zatko, ex-Security Head of Twitter, has filed a complaint with the Securities and Excange Commission with help from www.whistlebloweraid.org alleging that Twitter has been lax with its security and privacy processess. He has specifically highlighted the issue of Twitter misrepresenting the number of monetizable users that indicates the number of bots and amount of spam thats prevelant on the network.
Mr. Zatko is a prominent figure within the Information Security field having worked with large companies such as Google, Stripe and even the U.S. Government. He was hired by Jack Dorsey in 2020 as Head of Security, but was subsequently fired by Twitter in 2021 citing ineffective leadership and poor performance.
The whistleblowing couldn’t have come at a better time for Elon Musk as he has been stating the same reason for backing out of the $44 Billion deal to buy Twitter. We should get to know more during the 5 day no jury trial set in October between Twitter and Elon Musk.
